Victoria electric car owners face charging fees in new year.

  • Victoria and Saanich will start charging a $1/hr fee for owners using charging stations provided by the municipalities, with a time limit. Fees will be combined with parking charges and be paid by Flo account.A Level 2 charger provides about 50km range with a 90 minute charge time.One owner estimated that an hour charging at home at Level 2 would cost between 24 and 36 centsRevenues will be used to fund more charging stations.

    According to ICBC there were 13,727 electric vehicles on BC roads on March 31st, 2020, with about 5,635 of these on the Island and Southern Gulf Islands – Saltspring has 21 per 1000 residents.
